Ramp will provide shippers with more efficient service and needed capacity in Mid-Atlantic region
GREEN BAY, Wis. – (May 2, 2017) – Intermodal shipping in the Mid-Atlantic region just got easier. Schneider, a premier truckload, intermodal and logistics provider, has begun offering inbound and outbound Intermodal ramp service in Baltimore.
The Baltimore ramp allows Schneider to provide customers with more efficient intermodal services by creating additional Mid-Atlantic southbound/northbound lanes previously unavailable in Schneider’s network. The new lanes connect Baltimore directly to 10 U.S. ramps and two Mexico ramps:
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Winter Haven, Florida
- Portland, Oregon
- Stockton, California
- San Bernardino, California
- Los Angeles
- St. Louis
- Savannah, Georgia
- Monterrey, Mexico
- Toluca, Mexico
The ramp will result in improved transit times of up to two days by avoiding the need to go through Philadelphia and Portsmouth, Virginia. It will also provide favorable weekend accessibility.
"We saw a need for increased capacity and more efficient options in the Mid-Atlantic region," said Jim Filter, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider Intermodal. "Adding the Baltimore ramp to our already extensive network helps meet that demand as we continue to provide shippers with cost-effective, reliable and efficient shipping services."
Schneider Intermodal provides a variety of options, to include Transcontinental, Eastern Core, Express and Cross-border services throughout North America. As an asset-based provider, Schneider hires and trains drivers to deliver freight reliably and owns and provides the properly configured trucks, containers and chassis needed to move freight securely.
