Civilian Jobs Award

Associates with military experience make up 28 percent of company’s driving force

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Oct. 8, 2015) – Schneider, one of the nation’s largest truckload carriers, was recently named a Most Valuable Employer (MVE) by CivilianJobs.com for the fifth consecutive year. The website helps America’s best companies find military-experienced talent. In its seventh year, the MVE recognition allows military-experienced job seekers and veterans to identify the top employers to target for civilian careers.

The 2015 Most Valuable Employers for Military was open to all U.S.-based companies. The winners were selected on the basis of surveys in which employers outlined their recruiting, training and retention plans that best serve military service members and veterans.

"This year's MVE winners prove that companies are working harder than ever before to hire transitioning military and veterans," said Tim Best, CEO, Bradley-Morris, Inc., parent company of CivilianJobs.com. "It's clear they understand, and experience firsthand, the benefits of hiring from a pool of such highly skilled and dependable candidates. I want to personally thank all of these companies for their commitment to our country's veterans."

Schneider’s rich history of recruiting from the ranks of military dates back to its beginning in 1935. Founder Al Schneider, a Wisconsin Guardsman, recruited fellow service members as his first associates. Today, over 28 percent of Schneider’s driving force has military experience.

Key aspects of Schneider’s military program include guaranteed home time for weekend drill and annual training (no paid time off required), extended benefits and differential pay if deployed for up to 18 months, and an apprenticeship Program. Schneider’s Military Apprenticeship Program allows the use GI Bill benefits to receive tax-free educational benefit checks – up to $1,146 each month (in addition to Schneider paychecks) in a driver’s first year with the company.
