CSX updates
- Winter Haven Terminal: Intermittent delays have occurred due to crane outages. One crane was taken offline for scheduled maintenance, during which an additional issue was identified and is expected to be resolved with the crane returning to service Wednesday. A second crane experienced an unrelated outage late last week and has since been restored to service. Conditions are expected to improve as full lift capacity is reestablished.
- Mexico–Northeast Intermodal Service: CSX, in partnership with CPKC, has launched a new steel-wheel service from CPKC’s ramps in Monterrey, San Luis Potosi, and Toluca to South Kearny, NJ. The service includes an interchange in Myrtlewood, AL, eliminating the need for a Chicago rubber-tire crosstown and improving overall transit efficiency.
Union Pacific updates
- Union Pacific is well-positioned for the upcoming fall shipping surge, with ramps and linehaul operations fluid and performing well. As western volumes increase through the summer and into year-end, UP plans to operate additional trains out of the Southern California basin to support the anticipated demand.
- Union Pacific will be adjusting the departure schedule for its IEIT (Inland Empire) to Global 2 (Northlake, IL) service. The service will transition from a Tuesday–Saturday schedule to Monday–Friday, improving locomotive balance in Chicago and supporting more consistent service on the Westbound moves between Los Angeles and Chicago.
CPKC updates
- Cross-Border Documentation Requirement: CPKC has communicated that increased enforcement of U.S. export filing requirements by both U.S. and Mexican authorities will require the Internal Transaction Number (ITN) to be included on waybills for all cross-border intermodal shipments. This requirement is expected to take effect in July. Customers should ensure the ITN is included with standard shipping documentation, including the Bill of Lading (BOL) and commercial invoice, to avoid potential border delays or additional inspections.
- Holiday Operations: All CPKC terminals will remain open and operating as normal over the July 4th holiday weekend, with no anticipated service interruptions.
