CSX updates
- Severe weather moving through the Midwest and Northeast late last week has produced tornadoes, hail, flooding, downed trees, and widespread power outages across multiple states.
- There are no widespread outages or service concerns, but weather will impact on-time performance this week.
Union Pacific updates
- Union Pacific is ready for fall shipping. Due to increased holiday shipping, western volumes are predicted to increase over the summer months through the end of the year.
- Union Pacific ramps and lines are fluid and are operating well.
- As volumes increase, UP will operate incremental trains out of the Southern California basin to move the added demand.
CPKC updates
- Due to increased enforcement of U.S. export filing requirements by U.S. and Mexican authorities, the Internal Transaction Number (ITN) needs to be included on the waybill for all intermodal cross-border shipments. This will likely be a requirement sometime in July.
- To ensure compliance and avoid border delays or additional inspections, customers are requested to provide the ITN with their standard shipping documentation, including the Bill of Lading (BOL) and commercial invoice.
- CPKC has partnered with SENESECA to offer customs clearance for select commodities at the Puerta Mexico (Toluca) ramp in the Mexico City area.
- Commodities such as cotton, popcorn/DDGs, soybean meal (SBM), peat moss and pet food that could not move intermodally in the past due to a required inspection at the U.S.-Mexico border will now be able to move via rail from all US origins with SENESECA performing the inspection upon arrival at Puerta Mexico.
