Steve Wells
Executive Vice President of Truckload
Steve Wells is the Executive Vice President of Truckload of Schneider National, Inc. (SNDR), a premier multimodal provider of transportation, intermodal and logistics services. He joined Schneider in July 2026 after serving as the President of Cowan Systems LLC, one of the subsidiaries in Schneider's portfolio of brands.
In this role, Wells leads Schneider’s Truckload segment, focusing on delivering operational excellence, customer value, driver success and continued profitable growth.
He brings more than 27 years of transportation and logistics experience to Schneider. Wells joined Cowan Systems in 1999 as a Fleet Manager and advanced through a series of leadership roles with increasing responsibility across fleet management, operations and sales. Over the course of his career, he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and, most recently, President of Cowan Systems, where he helped guide the organization through significant growth and its acquisition by Schneider.
Prior to joining Cowan, Wells held positions in the parcel and less-than-truckload (LTL) industries with UPS and Universal-Riteway, building a strong foundation in transportation operations and customer service.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine and studied Deaf Education at Western Maryland College. Wells has also completed executive education programs in Supply Chain Management and Digital Business through the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Wells is a longtime supporter of and volunteer with organizations serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
